Dear SBS Families,
Happy New Year! It will be so good to be back to in person learning next week. I look forward to greeting the children on Monday morning. Please ensure that all books come back on Monday. For my students continuing with virtual learning, I pray that with the coming of the vaccine, they, too, will be in person in the very near future.

As we prepare to reopen our doors for in person learning, I wanted to update you with a few things in regards to our school’s pandemic policies. First, during the holidays, each classroom was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. We will continue working in cohorts stressing social distancing, frequent hand washing, and mask wearing. I ask that each child have two extra masks in a resealable bag in their school bag in case one is damaged, dropped or gets wet.
Since the holidays, I have heard from several families regarding COVID-19 and how it has impacted their families. First and foremost, I ask you to PRAY for any member of our Bernie’s family who is ill. I also ask you to pray that we continue to work together to ensure that our community is safe and our doors remain open. Secondly, I implore you to monitor your child(ren)’s health and err on the side of caution. If your child is a close contact or displays any of the following symptoms: fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, runny nose, fatigue, nausea , sore throat or headache, please keep them home. We will send home any student coming in complaining of these symptoms.
Below is the link to the health form that you must complete prior to your child(ren)’s return to in-person on Monday, January 11th. Each school day after that, the expectation is that you assess your child’s health each day using this form as your guide.

To date, I have reported 9 COVID-19 cases to the Chester County Health Department. This included 2 staff members and 7 students. Working together as a Christ-centered community, we will continue to keep our children, our faculty and our staff healthy and safe.
Additionally, we will continue following the following guidelines set by Chester County which align with the CDC recommendations:

Again, I ask that you pray for healing for those who are ill and whose lives have been impacted by COVID-19 . Additionally, let us join in prayer for our country that through the intercession of Mary and her Son, Jesus, we work to live lives rooted in peace and kindness.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Joanne Montie
