Update for the Week of January 12, 2025
We celebrated the Feast of St Leonie Aviat last week and the children learned about the wonderful miracle she is associated with here at St Bernadette’s Parish. We are truly blessed to have been touched by such a special event.

Fundations we will practice “tapping out” and blending CVC (three letter) words and begin formation of uppercase letters.
ELA we will read literature selections that will answer our Essential Question, What do living things need to grow?, practice reading our High Frequency word “my” and practice identifying story characters and setting.
Math we will practice counting to 50 and 100 by 1’s and 10’s.
Religion we will talk about how Mary said “yes” to God in our Chapter, Choosing Is Good.

Update for the Week of December 15, 2024
We enjoyed meeting with everyone last week at our conferences. It was nice to catch up in person for a few minutes. This week we begin our last week before Christmas break. We have lots of fun holiday activities planned beginning with our Christmas Show tomorrow. Details below….
Report Cards
Report cards will be coming home tomorrow, Monday, Dec 16th. You may keep the report card at home but please sign and date the envelope, anywhere will do, and return it to school by Fri, Dec 20th.

Parents and family members are invited to come enjoy our version of the Christmas Story. Please be seated in O’Brien Hall by 10:00. The parents of Mrs Pedano’s class should sit on the left side of the hall, Mrs Hyde’s parents should sit on the right side of the hall.
Front row on BOTH sides are reserved for Administration and Faculty. Please keep these rows free. Thank you!!
The children will come to school at our regular 7:50am start time and will be brought to O'Brien Hall at 10:00. The children should be dressed in “Christmas casual” clothing. Please let us know in advance if your child will be leaving with you after the show so we may plan accordingly. ALL students will come to OBrien Hall with their coats and backpacks. If you want to take your child home from the show you must sign them out. There will be a sign out sheet in the back of the hall.

Update for the Week of December 8, 2024
Last week the Kindergarten classes attended First Friday Mass. We are so very proud of how well behaved and reverent they were! Also, Friday was the Feast Day of
St. Nicholas. The attached pictures capture the excitement of his visit.

Last week we had an exciting visit from the Upper Darby Firefighters. We learned fire safety rules and got to explore a fire truck. Make sure to check out some pics on Class Dojo. We’ve also started getting ready for Thanksgiving by making adorable paper plate turkeys.

Update for the Week of September 15, 2024
Our first full week of kindergarten was so much fun! We listened to the story “Chrysanthemum” by Kevin Henkes, about a little mouse with a very long name. We counted the letters in our name and we practiced our cutting and gluing skills by making a Chrysanthemum craft. We have been enjoying social time during indoor free choice and outdoor recess.
Reading Log:
Reading to your child is an important activity that will help prepare them for reading on their own in the future. We ask that you try to read at least one book each night.
A Reading Log will be sent home this week. When both sides of the sheet are filled in, send it back to school and your child will receive a sticker and a new sheet.

We had a great first week in kindergarten! The children did a wonderful job getting to know each other and learning our school routines. We enjoyed celebrating our Blessed Mother Mary’s birthday on Friday. We are looking forward to a great year!!!!

“Brown Bag It”
To help us get to know each other better we will have a special Show and Tell activity. You will find a brown paper bag in your child’s folder on Monday. Please fill the bag with 3 items that will help us get to know your child better. Return the bag by the end of the week.
Gym Day
Our Gym day is Monday. If your child does not have a gym uniform yet they should wear their regular school uniform with sneakers.
Communication Folders
Please check, empty and return your child’s folder each day. This is an important form of communication between school and home.
Homeroom Parents
