Volunteer Opportunities at St. Bernadette of Lourdes

Looking for Ways to Get Involved? We need you! Our volunteers are the backbone of our school. All parents are encouraged to participate in their child's educational experience at SBS by getting involved in the various programs we offer. Whether it is Art Goes to School, Student Service Club, Homeroom Mom, or School Nurse, the list of opportunities to offer your time, talent, and assistance goes on and on… Your involvement will only enhance the experience of all of our children and will help our school to flourish for years to come.

Please review the list below for opportunities to get involved:

Student Service Club- Student Service Club helps to foster an awareness of the needs of others, teaches our children the value of service, and provides our students opportunities to be of service to those less fortunate than themselves. Student Service Club is available to students in grades K - 8 and generally meets on the first Monday of each month in the school lunchroom unless otherwise notified. Additional information is available by selecting "Student Service Club" under the section entitled "Programs." Contact Coordinator Cathy McGeever at 610.446.8497 if you are interested in volunteering as a moderator and/or service project planner.

School Beautification - Assist with the planting of seasonal flowers on the school and church grounds. Contact Coordinator Kim Brady at 610.449.8794 if you are interested in helping to keep our church and school grounds looking beautiful!

Family Communication - Although the primary means of communication is paperless, from time to time the school office needs to send out hard copies of information to our school families via the "Family Envelope." Volunteers are needed to assemble the envelopes prior to distribution to the families, and empty and sort the contents of the family envelopes when they are returned to school. Contact School Secretary Lori Repino at 610.449.6126, ext. 4 if you are interested in assisting with this task.

Art Goes to School Program - Volunteer parents assist the teachers with art lessons and exposure to famous artists once per month. To assist with this, contact Coordinator Maureen Russell at 610.789.3908.

Homeroom Mothers - Volunteers are needed to assist the homeroom teachers with organizing class parties, trips, and various other classroom activities. Opportunities to volunteer to be a homeroom mom are made available at the beginning of each school year.

Office Assistance - Volunteers are needed to assist our school secretary with office duties and answering incoming calls. Contact Lori Repino, School Secretary if you are interested in assisting with this at 610.449.6126, ext. 4.

School Nurse - Parents who are Registered Nurses volunteer their services to our children when the school's part-time Nurse is not available. To arrange a time to volunteer your nursing services, contact Lori Repino, School Secretary at the school office at 610.449.6126. (A copy of your nursing license is required prior to volunteering.)

Lunch Monitors - Parents are paid a stipend to assist with the lunch and recess supervision. Because this is a paid position, it is expected that everyone will take the supervision duties seriously for the safety and well being of our children. Parents or other adults may sign up for lunch duty in advance and should report to the school main office a few minutes before 12:00. The stipend for this school year is $10.00 per day. Lunch duty finishes shortly after 1:00pm.

Development: Please contact Lori Repino in the school office at 610.449.6126 if you are interested in serving on one or more of the following committees and you will be directed to the appropriate Committee Leader for more information regarding each committee's goals as well as approximate time commitment for serving on the:

  • Marketing Committee
  • Alumni Relations Committee
  • Unity Committee
  • Grant Research/Writing Committee
  • Special Events/Fundraisers
